On June 3, for instance, despite a large influx of arrivals and their relatives at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City – the only entry point in the country so far for people with the H1N1 flu -- nobody wore masks except for security guards.
This correspondent asked several people about swine flu but they said they have heard nothing about it.
The Ministry wants people to follow preventive measures like washing hands with soap and water thoroughly and often, especially in public places. But there were no hand soaps anywhere in the airport’s toilets.
On just June 2 and 3 more than half of the 10,330 passengers arriving at the airport came from nations in the infected zone.
The airport quarantine center secluded six people who arrived with high fever.
But some of them have since tested negative for the virus.
